Hillary Sproul is an actress, filmmaker, and writer based in New York City.

Her multidisciplinary background spans performance, filmmaking, visual styling, and editorial work, forming an artistic practice centered on atmosphere, psychology, and intimate, character-driven storytelling.

Hillary earned her BA in Film and Theatre from the University of Southern Maine, where she studied acting under Emmanuelle Chaulet before continuing her Meisner training at the William Esper Studio with Suzanne Esper. As an actress, she has written, produced, and starred in several short films, including Border Line, which screened at festivals such as McMinnville Short Film Festival, New York Shorts International Film Festival, and Atlanta Women’s Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Drama. Her directorial debut, Linnea (2025), continues her focus on female interiority and psychological tension.

As a journalist and interviewer, Hillary has served as Film & Entertainment Editor for The WILD Magazine, Tunica Magazine, and Alldayeveryday Digest, with additional writing appearing across various arts and culture publications. She is currently a regular contributor for the Soho Grand Hotel and The Roxy Hotel, where she profiles artists, musicians, filmmakers, and cultural figures.

Alongside her film and writing work, Hillary has built a multifaceted career in styling for film, editorial, and commercial clients. Her work has appeared at major festivals including Sundance, TIFF, Hamptons International, and Aspen Shortsfest, and she has styled for clients such as Meta, Bloomingdale’s, ELLE, Pfizer, Florida’s Natural, Lexus, and Puracy. Her background in theatre and film also informs her experience in prop styling and production design.

Hillary is currently developing multiple new film projects, including a feature-length version of Linnea.
